Sherry and Otter work as a team to support children and youth. Animal-Assisted Intervention is incorporated into counselling sessions. Sensory regulation, emotional regulation is woven into play therapy, nature therapy, mindfulness, art therapy, somatic therapy. Sherry has over 30 years experience as a school counsellor (age 5-19 in regular and alternate environments), teacher and school Principal in both the Comox Valley and Campbell River School Districts. Sherry is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and is a certified Animal-Assisted Intervention specialist. Otter is certified in Level 1/2/3 Obedience through SC1 Service Dogs, is a certified Facility Dog and member of the Critical Response and Trauma Team for the Campbell River School District, and is certified in Animal-Assisted Intervention. Soon Otter will be assessed for the Psychiatric Service dog test. He works with Sherry in the counselling room full-time with students aged 5-19 for the past 1.5 years and was specially selected and trained for this role by SC1 Service Dogs. .
